Overview
A SENIS Hall transducer (a magnetic flux density to analog voltage transducer) consists of two modules: (a) the
Hall probe module H (including the cable CaH); and (b) the
Electronic module E - see Fig.1.
In high accuracy transducers (e.g. 0.1%) the two modules are firmly connected via the cable CaH. In the transducers with the accuracy of 1% or lower, the modules H and E can be made detachable at the connector CoH.
There are two basic families of Hall probes see Fig. 2. If the Hall probe has a thin sensitive part (model T-Hxx-) and therefore fragile, then the standard realization is detachable. Detachable probes and E-modules are available as separate units.
For OEM-customers a non-calibrated version of H-module consisting of only Hall probe and the cable CaH is available. Such customers may purchase from SENIS the know-how on how to make and calibrate their own module E.
Optionally, the Hall probe (T-Hxx- or C-Hxx-) may be mounted on a probe support.
There are single probe and multi probe modules E. The multi probe module E may have 8x3-axis, or 16x1-axis equal probes and can be mounted in a standard rack.
Figure 1: Structure of a SENIS Magnetic Field Hall Transducer. The connector CoH comes only with the transducers with the type T-Hxx- Hall probe.
Figure 2: Two basic types of SENIS Hall probes. In the type C-Hxx- the Hall sensor chip is Closed, and therefore the probe is robust and stable. In the type T-Hxx- the magnetic sensitive part is Thin, the Hall sensor chip is not completely closed, and therefore the probe is fragile and less stable.
Selecting a transducer
The easiest way to select an appropriate transducer for your particular need is by using the following 3 selection charts:
1) Hall Probe (Module H) Selection Chart
2) Electronic (Module E) Selection Chart
3) Accessory Selection Chart
The notation used in these charts is explained below.
Notation for the Module H:
The basic notation:
H3A: The module type is
H (Hall probe),
3-axis, Design
A (standard probe with ceramic reference plate)
H3B: Design
B (probe mounted in a probe holder)
H3C: Design
C (standard probe without a ceramic reference plate)
H3W: Design
W (probe with a window)
HYA: The module type is
H (Hall probe), single-axis (the axis
Y), Design
A (or: B, C, …).
Further notations and options:
C-H3A: The probe is
Closed (standard for high accuracy transducers);
T-H3A: The probe has a
Thin sensitive part, which is a naked silicon chip;
C-H3A-
2m or C-H3B-
2m: The cable CaH is
2m long;
C-H3A-XX or C-H3B-xx: The length of the cable CaH is separately specified;
C-H3A-2m-
CoH: The module H comes with the
connector CoH (It is
detachable from the module E)
Notation for the Module E:
The basic notation:
E3A: The module type is
E (Electronic module),
3-axis, Design
A (or: B, C, …),
8E3A: The 8-channel module type is
E,
3-axis, Design
A (or: B, C, …),
EYA: The module type is
E, single-axis (the axis
Y), Design
A (or: B, C, …).
16E1A: The 16-channel module type is
E, single-axis (the axis
Y), Design
A (or: B, C, …).
Further notations and options:
E3A-
2T: The magnetic measurement range is 2T (standard options: 20mT, 200mT, 2T, 20T);
E3A-
0.1-2T: The measurement accuracy is about 0.1% (standard options: 0.1%, 1.0% and 2.5%);
E3A-
2.5kHz-0.1-2T: The measured frequency range of the magnetic field is DC to 2.5kHz
(-3dB) (standard options: 2.5kHz, 10kHz, 50kHz).
CoH-E3A-2.5kHz-1.0-2T: The module E comes with the
connector CoH;
Note: Some of the above options are available only in combination with other options. See the selection charts for details.
Notation for Transducers:
The type notation of a transducer consists of a combination of the notations of a Module H and a Module E, separated by a dash ( _ ).
Example 1: x-H3x-xx_E3A-2.5kHz-0.1-2T
This is a SENIS transducer with the probe 3D (C-H3x or T-H3x), xm long cable C1, the module E is type E3A, the nominal accuracy is 0.1%, the frequency range is DC to 2.5kHz, and the full scale magnetic field range is 2T,
Example 2: x-H3x-xx-CoH_E3A-10kHz-1.0-0.2T
This is a SENIS transducer with the probe 3D (C-H3x or T-H3x), with the xm long cable C1, the modules H and E are connected via the connector CoH, the module E is type E3A, the magnetic field range is 0.2T, the nominal accuracy is 1%, and the frequency range is 10kHz.
Custom-Made
Please contact info@senis.ch if you do not find a product that fits your requirements. We shall be happy to offer you a custom-made solution. On request, all transducers can be calibrated to higher precisions.
